Plan Your Ideal 2019

Write down this vision.
Write it clearly on tablets, so that anyone who reads it may run.

For the vision points ahead to a time I have appointed; it testifies regarding the end, and it will not lie.
Even if there is a delay, wait for it.
It is coming and will come without delay.

HABAKKUK 2:2-3 The Voice

During the last week of December, I took some few days to reflect on how the year went; In 2018 I didn’t achieve some of my goals. And for the first time, I do not regret anything instead I am encouraged to sling my shot better and focus on my aim. I am determined to press on towards the goal.

This year, I plan on pressing on towards achieving these goals and more, knowing that delay is never a denial. However, as I reflect back on how last year went I realised maybe I could have been clearer and time specific with some of my goals; by making daily/ weekly/monthly progress evaluation on them.

I generally set goals for every area in my life I want to improve and plan my year accordingly. Through the years, I have realized that writing new year plans can be quite daunting as it forces one to deal with some of the “not so great parts” of the year. However, it can also encourage you to do better in the coming year. And in fact, it forces you to select something specific and visualise your goals. The truth is you become better at achieving your goals.

This year I plan on living out God’s best for my life and to become all that He had intended and destined me to be. I will align myself with God’s will for my life. This is not the year to mess about.

And to do this I have to do things differently.
Albert Einstein once stated

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”

So in 2019, I have decided to level up! It would require discipline, prioritisation and commitment to make these goals happen but I am ready to put in the WORK!

Proverbs 16:3 says

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans.”

Planning your ideal 2019 will require you to…

  1. Reflect and Renew constantly. It’s all about your mindset baby!
  2. Retain habits/things that are working for you already.
  3. Remove; what are things you need to let go of this year?
  4. Resolve; what is missing or lacking in your life? Then make your resolutions.
  5. Respond – Close the gap between the end result you want and where you are now with a plan. Make sure your plan is SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely)
  6. Review and Report – Find someone you are accountable to. Remember Proverbs 15:22!
  7. Be Responsible for your actions

One thing that is constant about life is that change is inevitable.

If you haven’t yet written your plans yet then what are you waiting for? The right moment? It will never come.

Instead, just DO IT! It doesn’t have to be perfect. Follow the steps above and you are good to go.

Do not procrastinate!

Educate yourself – Use resources, look for books out there that talk about your vision. Listen to podcasts, attend seminars or webinars. As for me, I want to own my business in 5 yrs so, I have purchased some books to help me become a manager, and be the best at it! Go to my READS FOR 2019.

Visualise your plans. Vision boards are great tools. Start by gathering words and images that represent your true purpose. Spend some time creating your ideas on the board. Post affirmations, quotes and inspirational words on it. Keep it neat – stay away from clutter. Simplicity is bliss! You can buy boards from Amazon and ideas from Pinterest or Google.

Prayer is the key!

By being persistent in prayer and spending some intentional time in the Word of God will help you achieve all that God has spoken over your life. In Jesus name, Amen!

WORD FOR 2019 – BECOMING

Happy New Year!
I’m so grateful for what God did last year – It was indeed a year of Freedom for me and my family.

WELCOME TO 2019

Back in December while I was asking God for a word for 2019, the Holy Spirit said BECOMING.

At first, I thought it was just me assuming or maybe because the new book from Michelle Obama inspired the word becoming or could it be that it’s the new word in right now. I was reluctant, so I leaned in closer to God for confirmation.

God confirmed this over the past few weeks as I had conversations with my friends and loved ones over the festive period which all pointed back to what God has been tiring up in my heart.

I remember a conversation I had with a good friend/sister of mine. She asked me what the word for 2019 is, so I told her that I believe God is telling me – “2019 is a year of fulfilment of everything He has written over my life when He first made me even before I was formed in my mama’s womb. God is telling me; every season I have ever gone through has been building up for this time, this new age! This is a year of becoming “the me” God has destined and purposed me to become.

This is the year for my POTENTIALS to become PURPOSE and for my PLANS to become ACTIONS!

This is the year I become LESS of ME and MORE like CHRIST

This is the year I become ROOTED in my faith and God will do miraculous things in my life. The year I become a TESTIMONY that points everyone to Christ and God’s GLORY.

This is the year I become older and full of God’s WISDOM and REVELATIONS. This is the year I become the big 30 years on this planet earth!

This is the year I become CHANNELS of BLESSINGS!

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 New Living Translation (NLT)

…for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9 New Living Translation (NLT)

And we know that God causes everything to work togetherfor the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28 New Living Translation (NLT)

What do you want to become in 2019?

by being persistent in prayer and fasting you will become all that God has spoken over your life. In Jesus name, Amen!

How To Share Your Faith [3 Simple Steps]

When you go, tell them this: ‘God’s kingdom is now very near. Heal the sick. Bring the dead back to life. Heal the people who have leprosy. And force demons out of people. I give you these powers freely, so help others freely.

Matthew 10:7-8 ERV

Now, this is a topic I try to avoid speaking on as I too struggle with sharing my faith with others.

As we all know it can be quite daunting and scary at first, paired up with fear of rejection and lack of confidence. This is often generated from a place of feeling imperfect and incompetent which stops us from standing up and sharing the gospel with others.

If like me you struggle with this concept then you are in the right place. I know it can leave you feeling extremely fearful, hesitant and overwhelmed. For many years, I know I should share my faith but talking to strangers who don’t believe in Christ (or even people I know) often evokes skepticism, fear or anger and these words induce feelings of fear and intimidation in me.

And yes even if you are an extrovert or ambivert. No one likes to come across as being pushy or disliked.

Can I share a quick story with you?

This is a story of a pastor’s daughter who was more than 20 years old and had never shared the gospel with anyone because she was afraid. On the 1st of March 2014, in her quiet time, she felt God strongly speaking to her about being Strong and Courageous. It was at His feet He met her and reminded her He is with her and has given her the spirit of Boldness just as He had given Peter and John in Acts 4:13“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

It was on this day, she made a firm decision.

She went out, resolved that fear was not going to hold her back any longer. She believed God’s promise when He said…

He will personally go with her.

Deuteronomy 31:6.

That person is me. That year I surrendered all to God knowing that He Himself is with me, not His angels but God, the Father is with me as I stood boldly on the streets evangelising even with doubt. Shared my story on social media platforms knowing that I am imperfectly perfect in the love of Christ. Also, I opened up for the Holy Spirit to lead me to strangers who needed to be reminded that Jesus loves them with simple notes and a smile.

This is what the power of God can do to you. So if you are still reading this (I have a big grin on as I typed this) and have never ever shared your faith story but it is your desire to do so then you are in the right place.

You can breathe now! Relax!

John reminded us in 14:15 ““If you love Me, obey the commandments I have given you – if you love Me, express it by winning souls for Me”

So, with that verse in mind here are some easy, simple steps I consider to be key when sharing your faith with others.

3 Simple Steps in Sharing Your Faith

AF23869D-2CA5-416A-BC90-A6DD69F5D792

1. Pray

Prayer is the key,

prayer is the master key.

Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer. Literally!

Prayer is the key! So when fear creeps in, pray! When you feel that you are not enough or know enough, pray! Or maybe like me, you are not new to this but somehow along the way you’ve lost the passion for lost souls and you’ve lost the boldness you once had, PRAY!

We must learn how to go to God with everything we feel or think. It is important to get the inside out. When we tell God how we feel exactly in return He will speak to us through the His Word, providing us with signs and reassurance that we so are in desperate need of.

Be committed to prayer. The Bible emphasises on hearing as well as speaking. At the place of prayer, we hear from God. This is where we discern what He is saying to us. He will tell us the secret things, His vision. “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ”Colossians 4:3

Mission and intercession go hand in hand.

Remember, Jesus started all His missions with a prayer and ended always with a prayer too.

2. Plan

A structure is important. Preparation is even more important.

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
― Benjamin Franklin

667f98ea-790e-4219-b627-1a1790722247

Even God has a plan! So before stepping out to share the good news of Christ have a plan in place. Have strategies on how to engage. Speak in context of the environment. Maybe you might want to start with things that can draw there attention, “Things they can relate with e.g. weather, etc.” or  words like “Can I tell you something that’s giving me Hope?” or “Let me tell you my story.” Just like the blind man who went everywhere telling people about what Jesus had done for him. John 9:25 “One thing I do know, I was blind but now I see!”.

Even though this man didn’t know the bible enough, he was an expert on one topic – his own experience. He was blind and now he could see. We can do the same too. Perhaps, you once felt unloved, unaccepted and rejected before or you struggled with low self-esteem, hate, jealousy, addiction. Whatever it is,  your testimony is powerful enough for God to use. Don’t ever think your story is not as powerful or dramatic enough.

Be prepared! You can start by writing 10 things you’re thankful for. Share it on your facebook page or twitter. You can prepare by writing your story down, or record it, or practice in front of a mirror. Whatever works for you.

Get your message across effectively, remember the rule: “Don’t tell, ask!”

For instance: Jesus died on the cross for you. Do you know why He did that? Find out what the person already understands, give your own testimony and stimulate a desire in that person’s heart to say, ” I want that!”

Be creative and aggressive in a gentle way in your approach.

Don’t preach to them. Don’t pressurise them. Listen and share!

The important thing is not what you say but what the other person understands!

Think of how to address challenges; cultural differences. Use existence methods/ resources. Think of how to engage your community. Go into schools, Elderly care homes, provide free breakfast/lunch for the homeless or the less privileged that lives in your town. Invite your unsaved friends to coffee, brunch/dinner.

Evaluate if the method is working or not. Remember, there is always a way. Just go and sow the seed.

3. Go

First, Be approachable.

We don’t want anyone feeling threatened now do we?

8ff11df1-b12d-4477-83f3-9ad1bc812062

Be relaxed but determined!

Second, Smile!

Beam in the joy of the Lord. It’s contagious. This is when the seed planting starts. The conversation will usually develop naturally from here. Take an interest in people and you will get their interest!

When you’ve been set free you should want others to know so they too can be free. Why? Because you know this is a person Jesus died for too and loves dearly.

People are in search of more. They want something more than what this present world can offer them and yes we have the answer. The answer which can invade and eradicate every emptiness in people’s lives.

God wants to perform miracles through us in such a way that will blow our minds. He will do that which eyes have never seen nor heard of, ever!

However, we must become bold and give our lives away for the master’s use. God wants to use us as a vessel to bring His Kingdom here on earth.

Share your story, your song is a powerful tool and if you’re not good with words, then use your actions, anything! Just don’t do nothing. Do good!  Care and share!

Remember, practice makes perfect.

Be courageous, be led by God’s Holy Spirit. If God is calling you out of your familiar place; maybe to leave everything you know to go out to the unknown. Be brave!

He will make you brave. He is a good Father. He is for you and never against. He is your champion! Like He said, He will go with you PERSONALLY! “So God has given both His promise and His Oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie” Hebrews 6:18

Perseverance and total surrender are needed.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
and He will make your paths straight.
– Proverbs 3:5-6
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age
– Matthew 28:19-20

This is a command. Jesus is not begging or supplicating but simply commissioning every believer to go all over the world to win souls.

Go and Proclaim!

Pastor Craig Groeschel  in his book the Christian atheist said

When we are open to go wherever the Holy Spirit leads us. He will use us to share the greatest gift of all – eternal life through Christ. And when He does, we may never know on this side of eternity how much of a difference we made, But someday on the other side – we’ll know in full.

Share the Word of God and give your testimony of the beauty of Jesus Christ with the unsaved.

This is the heartbeat of God. He does not have pleasure in the death of a sinner.

Let’s flood the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I love you,

He Really Does Leave The Ninety-Nine To Find The ONE!

Every time and Again and again . . .
You are the ONE He’s chasing after!
This piece was originally published on The Daily Seed back in April 2014.
Four years later, I heard the Reckless Love by Cory Ashbury which inspired me to revisit this beautiful reminder and prompted me to share it again.

Lost and Found

Chosen one, I am glad you made it here today. What a privilege to be alive!

I just want to inspire you with these few words today.  I encourage you to read on…

Bible Passage: Luke 15:1-10

Before you read, I want you to open your hands with your palms facing up. Sit for a moment in stillness and ask your heavenly Father to tell you important words that you need to hear today. Tell Him that you are open to His guidance.

Now read the passage.

By this time a lot of men and women of doubtful reputation were hanging around Jesus, listening intently. The Pharisees and religion scholars were not pleased, not at all pleased. They growled, “He takes in sinners and eats meals with them, treating them like old friends.” Their grumbling triggered this story.

“Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing and when you got home call in your friends and neighbours, saying, ‘celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ Count on it – there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over  ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue.

“Or imagine a woman who has ten coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and scour the house, looking in every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbours: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’ Count on it – that’s the kind of party God’s angels throw every time one lost soul turns to God.”

In this passage two things – A Sheep and A Coin – are lost and then found. And both are celebrated upon their return.

As you think about the two stories of the lost items, which story hits you the most right now?

Think deeply why that story jumps out at you today. Read it again and put yourself in it.

When have you felt lost? Why did you feel that way?

In both stories, A Shepherd, A Woman – proactively went after the lost item.

How does it feel to know that God Himself is proactively pursuing you for the simple yet profound fact that He loves you deeply?

Notice the element of celebration in these stories.

How does this celebration make you feel? What should you begin to celebrate in your life or in the lives of others?

Today, I celebrate the Love of God in my life. I know I am loved by The One who never gives up on me. He comes looking for me every time I purposely wander off and when I frequently get distracted by the storms of life.

And In the lives of others, I celebrate the joy that fills God’s heart when the lost is found.

Listen for God in these areas:
  1.  What might He be communicating to you regarding your lostness?
  2. Regarding the fact that He desires to find you?
  3.  Regarding how He celebrates your life?

Recognise what God is doing in your life today – in the spectacular and in the mundane – and then celebrate it.

Remember, you are the ONE He’ll leave the ninety-nine for. God will not stop until He finds you. He is crazy about you!

Enjoy the fresh start today. Freedom lies in the love of our Father.

Freedom: the humble will find mercy

Freedom happens when we humble ourselves.

When we are humble, we rely on and trust in the saving power of Jesus alone to save us not in our own ability.

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

While studying John chapter 8, I realised that this chapter speaks volume about the condition of our hearts. So much wisdom and revelation in one chapter!

These are some interesting points I gathered whilst reading…

  • John 8 1-11 described the scene of Jesus teaching the scribes and the Pharisees. Whilst teaching, a woman caught right in the middle of adultery was brought to Him – not to be saved but to be condemned, openly shamed and killed. The woman is undoubtedly guilty of adultery, and according to the Law of Moses she should be punished by death. Instead Jesus did something unexpected. He sets this woman free. However, the revelation I received from this event is this. Although it was never recorded the type of conversation that had happened beforehand between her and the accusers but what I noticed is that this woman never tried to justify her sin when she got to the presence of Jesus but instead she humbled herself. I hear you say, well she had no choice but to humble herself as she was in a vulnerable situation. Yes, that’s correct! I can think of many vulnerable situations that I clearly needed help that pride stopped me from obtaining! What I believed happened here is this -she encountered something amazing that day, which is greater than anything she has ever known. She met with LOVE in flesh.  She met face to face with LOVE Himself and and all she could do was surrender.  I’m guessing from this woman’s story, this is someone that has been trying to fill a hole in her heart by sleeping with men, searching for a real love but all in the wrong places. So, when she finally met with the LOVE she has been searching for all her life face to face, Jesus, a stranger who showed her what true love and kindness is. She bowed in humility and surrender. This is how her story changed forever.

The love of Jesus humbles us to surrender

  • The other part of the story. People will condemn you and leave you worse off than they found you but Jesus said “I won’t condemn you. Go and sin no more” John 8:11. This is what freedom looks like when we admit to our sins and repent. “And therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1

Freedom has no condemnation only Victory!

  • John 8:12-30 Upon all the teachings and actions of Jesus in the previous verses. He continues to implore the Pharisees to believe and turn back from their wicked ways. It was clear they were not ready to let go of what they know or have been taught. They believed in God but not in Jesus. They believed in the law of Moses but not in the saving grace of Jesus. And just like us today, we choose what is convenient to believe in and when it suites us to follow Him. There is no shame in admitting we struggle. Jesus made that clear in the previous verses, He is made perfect in our weakness. Remember, “the Proud will never see God”. Freedom happens when we truly let go. If you want to be free, Let GO!

I can’t, Jesus can, Let Him.

  • John 8: 31-59 Finally, after Jesus had demonstrated and taught them what True Freedom is they preferred to remain as slaves by hiding and “defending and justifying” their sins. Even though they know the Word of God, they fail to comprehend the key message in this chapter which is ‘JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND LIFE’. Similarly, a large number of us”Christians” are like these Pharisees, “the educated people of their day, cautious, law-abiding”. Too often we rely on our own wisdom and ability to be perfect. We believe we know what is right for our lives. Just like the Pharisees, we justify our actions because we think we know “the law” and our interpretation of the law is “right”. We pick ‘n’ choose what to and not to believe. Self-reliant! Proud much? The Pharisees preferred to remain captives bound in the chains of “law” as to admitting that they’ve been wrong all along and be set free. What a pity! Imagine, to stand in the presence of Jesus, the Saviour, the Son God and God Himself in flesh and still be living in bondage? Listen, majority of us Christians are still living in bondage today and yet we claim Jesus is our Saviour?! Jesus can only make His home where He is allowed! It is when we give Him full access to all areas of our lives can we then receive complete freedom. So, if you want to be free stop boxing Jesus out, stop thinking that only you can deliver yourself. That’s pride!

“Is He Lord in every aspect of your life?”

Let us think back to when we’ve tried to do things by our own strength. How we failed woefully and yet we refuse to admit we are struggling. We continue to hide under the illusion of freedom.

Get rid of pride and receive true freedom today!

“You can’t whitewash your sins and get by with it; you find mercy by admitting and leaving them.”

Proverbs ‭28:13‬ ‬‬

‘So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. ‘

John 8:36
