I COMMITTED A CRIME

I committed a crime that ultimately brings about death!
I was locked up to be sentenced.
A terrible crime never to see the light again,
imprisoned with no way of escape.

But God,

oh if not for the cross.

My records wiped clean,
removed all traces.
When I see the
cross I see Freedom.
My Freedom bought with the precious blood of the Lamb.
Grace has found me in my imprisonment,
and gave me Hope.
Jesus I am found in Your Freedom.

 – THE CROSS by Dami Elegbede

Jesus Christ did the things God wanted Him to do. And because of that, we are made holy through the sacrifice of Christ’s body.

Christ made that sacrifice one time—enough for all time.

Hebrews 10:10

Freedom: the humble will find mercy

Freedom happens when we humble ourselves.

When we are humble, we rely on and trust in the saving power of Jesus alone to save us not in our own ability.

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

While studying John chapter 8, I realised that this chapter speaks volume about the condition of our hearts. So much wisdom and revelation in one chapter!

These are some interesting points I gathered whilst reading…

  • John 8 1-11 described the scene of Jesus teaching the scribes and the Pharisees. Whilst teaching, a woman caught right in the middle of adultery was brought to Him – not to be saved but to be condemned, openly shamed and killed. The woman is undoubtedly guilty of adultery, and according to the Law of Moses she should be punished by death. Instead Jesus did something unexpected. He sets this woman free. However, the revelation I received from this event is this. Although it was never recorded the type of conversation that had happened beforehand between her and the accusers but what I noticed is that this woman never tried to justify her sin when she got to the presence of Jesus but instead she humbled herself. I hear you say, well she had no choice but to humble herself as she was in a vulnerable situation. Yes, that’s correct! I can think of many vulnerable situations that I clearly needed help that pride stopped me from obtaining! What I believed happened here is this -she encountered something amazing that day, which is greater than anything she has ever known. She met with LOVE in flesh.  She met face to face with LOVE Himself and and all she could do was surrender.  I’m guessing from this woman’s story, this is someone that has been trying to fill a hole in her heart by sleeping with men, searching for a real love but all in the wrong places. So, when she finally met with the LOVE she has been searching for all her life face to face, Jesus, a stranger who showed her what true love and kindness is. She bowed in humility and surrender. This is how her story changed forever.

The love of Jesus humbles us to surrender

  • The other part of the story. People will condemn you and leave you worse off than they found you but Jesus said “I won’t condemn you. Go and sin no more” John 8:11. This is what freedom looks like when we admit to our sins and repent. “And therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1

Freedom has no condemnation only Victory!

  • John 8:12-30 Upon all the teachings and actions of Jesus in the previous verses. He continues to implore the Pharisees to believe and turn back from their wicked ways. It was clear they were not ready to let go of what they know or have been taught. They believed in God but not in Jesus. They believed in the law of Moses but not in the saving grace of Jesus. And just like us today, we choose what is convenient to believe in and when it suites us to follow Him. There is no shame in admitting we struggle. Jesus made that clear in the previous verses, He is made perfect in our weakness. Remember, “the Proud will never see God”. Freedom happens when we truly let go. If you want to be free, Let GO!

I can’t, Jesus can, Let Him.

  • John 8: 31-59 Finally, after Jesus had demonstrated and taught them what True Freedom is they preferred to remain as slaves by hiding and “defending and justifying” their sins. Even though they know the Word of God, they fail to comprehend the key message in this chapter which is ‘JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND LIFE’. Similarly, a large number of us”Christians” are like these Pharisees, “the educated people of their day, cautious, law-abiding”. Too often we rely on our own wisdom and ability to be perfect. We believe we know what is right for our lives. Just like the Pharisees, we justify our actions because we think we know “the law” and our interpretation of the law is “right”. We pick ‘n’ choose what to and not to believe. Self-reliant! Proud much? The Pharisees preferred to remain captives bound in the chains of “law” as to admitting that they’ve been wrong all along and be set free. What a pity! Imagine, to stand in the presence of Jesus, the Saviour, the Son God and God Himself in flesh and still be living in bondage? Listen, majority of us Christians are still living in bondage today and yet we claim Jesus is our Saviour?! Jesus can only make His home where He is allowed! It is when we give Him full access to all areas of our lives can we then receive complete freedom. So, if you want to be free stop boxing Jesus out, stop thinking that only you can deliver yourself. That’s pride!

“Is He Lord in every aspect of your life?”

Let us think back to when we’ve tried to do things by our own strength. How we failed woefully and yet we refuse to admit we are struggling. We continue to hide under the illusion of freedom.

Get rid of pride and receive true freedom today!

“You can’t whitewash your sins and get by with it; you find mercy by admitting and leaving them.”

Proverbs ‭28:13‬ ‬‬

‘So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. ‘

John 8:36

FREEDOM 2018

My Word for 2018 is

E879C837-3F70-4CB0-B7F5-449040F03C00

A word can be a meditation, a reminder, a promise of what God has in store for us.

In the 4 years I’ve been choosing a word for the year, my life has certainly changed for the better.

Previous words were FOCUS, ABIDE, JESUS. I have truly understood that God gave me these words for a reason indeed. For example, in 2017 JESUS was the only one that could have saved me from the depression I went through towards the end of the year.  I can truly testify that I experienced the true love of God through His only begotten Son – JESUS who pulled me out of the darkness of depression. JESUS took my mistakes, worries and anxieties and replaced them with Love, Hope, Peace, Joy etc. There is power in the name of JESUS.

Another example,  in 2016 ABIDE was the word that truly changed the course of that year, perhaps my life. I experienced a move of God in all areas of my life. A lot of people said that year was the hardest year but I experienced the opposite. I received answers to prayers, MASSIVE turnaround in my story, my shame was turned to glory. Throughout that year I learnt that when you truly seek God and abide in Him there will be an answer to all prayers, and all godly desires will be met. John 15:7 NKJV

I encourage you to find your word for this year if you haven’t already. It will not only help you spiritually but in all areas of your life.

Back in December while I was asking God for a word for 2018, the Holy Spirit said Freedom. At first, I was reluctant and replied “but I am Free already!”. So, I dug deeper  through the scriptures and prayed. He reassured me.

John 8:36 reads, So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Galatians 5:1 reads, It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

I can only see parts of the picture right now, but I know He will reveal the full picture of His heart and intentions for me this year.

My prayer for you today is that you too will experience the FREEDOM of Christ in all areas of your life this year. May you be free to worship Him, live up to your full potential. May you be delivered from every cycles of sin, mistake, shame, worry, unforgiveness, financial struggle, generational /family curse, depression, sickness, anxiety and stronghold in Jesus name, Amen.

You Are Called For A Bigger Purpose

This Bible verse might be very familiar to you. So before reading, pause and ask God to give you fresh eyes and an open heart to absorb it.

Those who are devoted to God will flourish like budding date-palm trees;
they will grow strong and tall like cedars in Lebanon.
Those planted in the house of the Eternal
will thrive in the courts of our God.
 They will bear fruit into old age;
even in winter, they will be green and full of sap

Psalm 92:12-14 The Voice

Pot plant is a plant grown or suitable for growing in a flowerpot, especially indoors (in a protected environment).

Pot plant Christians are those believers who only grows within their comfort zone- within that circumference, they only stay indoors-in any protected environment, even though God didn’t made them a plant that only grows in a pot, they have chosen to be one. They have potentials to become a palm tree just as Psalm 92:12 stated, but because of their laziness, because of their complacency, they choose to stay in that protected environment.

Funny thing about pot plant Christians is they bear no or few fruits, they only produce limited fruits and sometimes if they are not watered often, they die.

So I pose the question, Are you a pot plant Christian? Do have the characteristics of a pot plant?

The honest truth is you have so much more to offer, your purpose,  your fruits are so great but if you don’t grow you will die.

Don’t you want to flourish?

Don’t you want more saved souls in this Heaven race?

Are you not tired of being in the same position you’ve been since you got saved?

Remember, God is not looking at how beautiful your pot is – you don’t need to feel qualified. He is looking at the plant – He is more interested in you, the treasures He had deposited in you.

See, no matter what God gives you, you must always do your best as the Lord’s servant to make it grow, and you can’t afford to be just a pot plant in this mission field.

Get up, shake off every spirit of laziness, you are not working for man, you are working for your God, your saviour. The One who took the fall so you don’t have to!

ARISE Intercessors, ARISE from your sleep.

The time is now. God wants to use you for a bigger purpose!

You have an assignment.

Your seeds are as great as the sequoia tree (the world’s largest tree- General Sherman) but you’ve got to break out of those pots to be as great as the original tree God designed you for.

You have what it takes because you have Him

A pot plant Christian cannot lead others to Christ. Why? Because they are busy sitting in their comfort zone. 2 Timothy 2:15; do everything you can to present yourself to God as a man who is fully genuine, a worker unashamed of your mission, a guide capable of leading others along the correct path defined by the word of truth.

You cannot do this if you remain in this pot. You cannot present yourself to God as a fully genuine worker if you decide to stay in your area of comfort. Anyone can do that!

Remember in Revelation 3:16, God says if you are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, He will vomit you out of His mouth.

A tree that does not bear good fruits will be cut down.

This message speaks volume to me now like it did in Jesus days to the disciples.

So as for you and me, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Let us encourage and build each other up in love. And the word of God is a two edged sword, this message speakers louder to me the writer.

Love, Dami xo

Desperation Has A Sound

Have you ever been desperate for something in your life before?
Yes?
Then you can imagine what was going on in the head of the blind Bartimaeus… when people tried to drown his voice; scolding him to shut up, to be quiet but instead of giving up as the storm rages, the nearer Jesus got to him, the louder he became.
He shouted even more loudly, “Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me!.”
Why?
Because desperate people do desperate things.
Are you desperate too?
Are you desperate for a miracle? for a breakthrough? for a better relationship with God? desperate for a revival? desperate for a new job? for an open door? desperate for healing? Desperate for direction? for a new vision?
I want you to cry out louder than ever before, louder than this blind man.
Become louder than ever before even as the storm rages, get more louder!
Desperation has a sound!
Be louder in your worship; the power of your worship is a sound to Heaven, a desperation sound.
Be louder in your prayers till He answers you.
If you are like me, if you have a need then cry out today, Declare to Jesus! Son of David Have mercy on me!
And God’s delivery system is called FAITH.
Bartimaeus had a little bit of Faith and the man that was once blind can now see.
Desperation Has A Sound.
Your miracle awaits you.
