Self-Reflection Mode

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

Matthew 7:3-5 NIV

It has been quite a while! I have no excuse but to say I’m sorry. I just haven’t had the motivation to write. However, I’m here now and I thought I’d share some of my many experiences during this unprecedented time.

Self reflection is such a humbling process. Especially, during this time of lock-down. I have found myself doing a lot of these….more so, with the people I love and respect – my family.

One thing I’ve realised so far is this, you get what you give. People would normally reciprocate the energy you give consciously or subconsciously so watch your energy!

What kind of energy are you giving?

Like I said, I’ve had to do a lot of self reflections recently. Let’s keep it real, I can be a moody human and my energy can be very discouraging at times. My attitude, mood can come off as being passive when things generally don’t go my way. However, I expect others to understand this and cut me some slacks.

See, I’m a big fan of this outlook in life; “putting others in your shoes” and giving people the “benefit of doubt” but what you shouldn’t become is that person who constantly acts this way and no one wants to be around because the energy you give is just too toxic and draining!

Yes, it’s good to protect your energy and not let others dampen yours but the honest truth is this; people you love and respect has a big influence over you. Whether you like it or not you have that same influence over your loved ones too. It is your responsibility to watch your energy and produce what you would like to see in others.

“Vibe high and the magic around you will unfold.”

– Akilnathan Logeswaran

It is your responsibility to make people around you feel comfortable and not on the edge all the time. There is too much sadness and hurt in this world, you don’t need to add to it.
Make peace, be kind with your words and actions too. Settle misunderstanding with love and understanding.

I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 13:3-7 NIV

“If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Love yourself enough today to sit down and do a self-reflection. It is essential to find out why you think and do some certain things. Find out the root cause of your behaviours, habits, actions etc…Then, work on becoming a better version of yourself. God wants you to improve and to be better each day, You have the Holy Spirit who will certainly help you.

“Everybody else needs mirrors to remind themselves who they are. You’re no different.”

May God shine His light on you each day. Your life is too precious!

I love you,

How To Share Your Faith [3 Simple Steps]

When you go, tell them this: ‘God’s kingdom is now very near. Heal the sick. Bring the dead back to life. Heal the people who have leprosy. And force demons out of people. I give you these powers freely, so help others freely.

Matthew 10:7-8 ERV

Now, this is a topic I try to avoid speaking on as I too struggle with sharing my faith with others.

As we all know it can be quite daunting and scary at first, paired up with fear of rejection and lack of confidence. This is often generated from a place of feeling imperfect and incompetent which stops us from standing up and sharing the gospel with others.

If like me you struggle with this concept then you are in the right place. I know it can leave you feeling extremely fearful, hesitant and overwhelmed. For many years, I know I should share my faith but talking to strangers who don’t believe in Christ (or even people I know) often evokes skepticism, fear or anger and these words induce feelings of fear and intimidation in me.

And yes even if you are an extrovert or ambivert. No one likes to come across as being pushy or disliked.

Can I share a quick story with you?

This is a story of a pastor’s daughter who was more than 20 years old and had never shared the gospel with anyone because she was afraid. On the 1st of March 2014, in her quiet time, she felt God strongly speaking to her about being Strong and Courageous. It was at His feet He met her and reminded her He is with her and has given her the spirit of Boldness just as He had given Peter and John in Acts 4:13“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

It was on this day, she made a firm decision.

She went out, resolved that fear was not going to hold her back any longer. She believed God’s promise when He said…

He will personally go with her.

Deuteronomy 31:6.

That person is me. That year I surrendered all to God knowing that He Himself is with me, not His angels but God, the Father is with me as I stood boldly on the streets evangelising even with doubt. Shared my story on social media platforms knowing that I am imperfectly perfect in the love of Christ. Also, I opened up for the Holy Spirit to lead me to strangers who needed to be reminded that Jesus loves them with simple notes and a smile.

This is what the power of God can do to you. So if you are still reading this (I have a big grin on as I typed this) and have never ever shared your faith story but it is your desire to do so then you are in the right place.

You can breathe now! Relax!

John reminded us in 14:15 ““If you love Me, obey the commandments I have given you – if you love Me, express it by winning souls for Me”

So, with that verse in mind here are some easy, simple steps I consider to be key when sharing your faith with others.

3 Simple Steps in Sharing Your Faith

AF23869D-2CA5-416A-BC90-A6DD69F5D792

1. Pray

Prayer is the key,

prayer is the master key.

Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer. Literally!

Prayer is the key! So when fear creeps in, pray! When you feel that you are not enough or know enough, pray! Or maybe like me, you are not new to this but somehow along the way you’ve lost the passion for lost souls and you’ve lost the boldness you once had, PRAY!

We must learn how to go to God with everything we feel or think. It is important to get the inside out. When we tell God how we feel exactly in return He will speak to us through the His Word, providing us with signs and reassurance that we so are in desperate need of.

Be committed to prayer. The Bible emphasises on hearing as well as speaking. At the place of prayer, we hear from God. This is where we discern what He is saying to us. He will tell us the secret things, His vision. “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ”Colossians 4:3

Mission and intercession go hand in hand.

Remember, Jesus started all His missions with a prayer and ended always with a prayer too.

2. Plan

A structure is important. Preparation is even more important.

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
― Benjamin Franklin

667f98ea-790e-4219-b627-1a1790722247

Even God has a plan! So before stepping out to share the good news of Christ have a plan in place. Have strategies on how to engage. Speak in context of the environment. Maybe you might want to start with things that can draw there attention, “Things they can relate with e.g. weather, etc.” or  words like “Can I tell you something that’s giving me Hope?” or “Let me tell you my story.” Just like the blind man who went everywhere telling people about what Jesus had done for him. John 9:25 “One thing I do know, I was blind but now I see!”.

Even though this man didn’t know the bible enough, he was an expert on one topic – his own experience. He was blind and now he could see. We can do the same too. Perhaps, you once felt unloved, unaccepted and rejected before or you struggled with low self-esteem, hate, jealousy, addiction. Whatever it is,  your testimony is powerful enough for God to use. Don’t ever think your story is not as powerful or dramatic enough.

Be prepared! You can start by writing 10 things you’re thankful for. Share it on your facebook page or twitter. You can prepare by writing your story down, or record it, or practice in front of a mirror. Whatever works for you.

Get your message across effectively, remember the rule: “Don’t tell, ask!”

For instance: Jesus died on the cross for you. Do you know why He did that? Find out what the person already understands, give your own testimony and stimulate a desire in that person’s heart to say, ” I want that!”

Be creative and aggressive in a gentle way in your approach.

Don’t preach to them. Don’t pressurise them. Listen and share!

The important thing is not what you say but what the other person understands!

Think of how to address challenges; cultural differences. Use existence methods/ resources. Think of how to engage your community. Go into schools, Elderly care homes, provide free breakfast/lunch for the homeless or the less privileged that lives in your town. Invite your unsaved friends to coffee, brunch/dinner.

Evaluate if the method is working or not. Remember, there is always a way. Just go and sow the seed.

3. Go

First, Be approachable.

We don’t want anyone feeling threatened now do we?

8ff11df1-b12d-4477-83f3-9ad1bc812062

Be relaxed but determined!

Second, Smile!

Beam in the joy of the Lord. It’s contagious. This is when the seed planting starts. The conversation will usually develop naturally from here. Take an interest in people and you will get their interest!

When you’ve been set free you should want others to know so they too can be free. Why? Because you know this is a person Jesus died for too and loves dearly.

People are in search of more. They want something more than what this present world can offer them and yes we have the answer. The answer which can invade and eradicate every emptiness in people’s lives.

God wants to perform miracles through us in such a way that will blow our minds. He will do that which eyes have never seen nor heard of, ever!

However, we must become bold and give our lives away for the master’s use. God wants to use us as a vessel to bring His Kingdom here on earth.

Share your story, your song is a powerful tool and if you’re not good with words, then use your actions, anything! Just don’t do nothing. Do good!  Care and share!

Remember, practice makes perfect.

Be courageous, be led by God’s Holy Spirit. If God is calling you out of your familiar place; maybe to leave everything you know to go out to the unknown. Be brave!

He will make you brave. He is a good Father. He is for you and never against. He is your champion! Like He said, He will go with you PERSONALLY! “So God has given both His promise and His Oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie” Hebrews 6:18

Perseverance and total surrender are needed.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
and He will make your paths straight.
– Proverbs 3:5-6
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age
– Matthew 28:19-20

This is a command. Jesus is not begging or supplicating but simply commissioning every believer to go all over the world to win souls.

Go and Proclaim!

Pastor Craig Groeschel  in his book the Christian atheist said

When we are open to go wherever the Holy Spirit leads us. He will use us to share the greatest gift of all – eternal life through Christ. And when He does, we may never know on this side of eternity how much of a difference we made, But someday on the other side – we’ll know in full.

Share the Word of God and give your testimony of the beauty of Jesus Christ with the unsaved.

This is the heartbeat of God. He does not have pleasure in the death of a sinner.

Let’s flood the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I love you,

Has the past few days stirred up something in you?

Are you experiencing something different, different from past Easters?

Is your heart beating again?

Do you feel overwhelmed… overwhelmed with love and passion? (oh don’t worry, its absolutely fine to feel this way)

That’s Jesus, He’s always doing that to His people. LOL!

But you don’t know what to think or how to act. Nothing like this has never happened to you before?

But at the same time you feel like shouting on the rooftop…telling anyone and everyone about this relentless love you feel.

How crazy the love of God is, You want to share the mystery of what Jesus did. You want to fight for LOVE?

I’m with you on that one!

So…Can we do something about this feelings?

Yes?

Absolutely yes! I’m with you!

Let’s do something amazing,

Let’s start  a movement…Yes a movement!

Let us win at least ONE soul for Christ this year!

Yes One soul! Let’s start a movement , let’s start this great commission.

#OneSoul

Unsure where to start? Feeling anxious?

Don’t fret, you are not alone.

Can you say this prayer with me

Lord, I feel so overwhelmed by Your love, I don’t want it to end here. I want to tell everyone about it. Help me, give me courage and strength. Let me know You are near me, that You are for me and You will personally be with me as I  share Your love with the broken and the lost, Amen.

#OneSoulMovement #TheGreatCommission

You can start in Jerusalem (your city) , yes, right there at your door step.

This is what the Scriptures said: that the promised Anointed One should suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,  that in His name a radical change of thought and life should be preached, and that in His name the forgiveness of sins should be preached, beginning in Jerusalem and extending to all nations. Luke 24:46-47

Your Jerusalem is your city, your street, your workplace etc.

Tell your friends, neighbours about the love, peace and joy you feel.

† =

Let’s make it home together.

Share the love of God, share His love that’s brighter than the sun

Tell them about the love that fills your heart, the love that’s so Amazing, a love like no other.

Share the Good News, tell them God showed how much He loves us by sending His One and Only Son into the world so that we might have no shame, no guilt BUT instead have eternal life through Him with no shame nor guilt. 1 John 4:9

My brothers, my sisters we have work to do.

Let’s start fishing for a soul.

How Deep Is Your Love?

How cliché, posting something about love on a valentine’s day!

Oh well never mind, can i draw your attention to this profound yet so simple message in the bible?

Yes? Ok good!

See God assesses our lives based on how we love. But the word love is over used and worn out in this day and age. Do you agree?

Paul writes that even “if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I  gain nothing”.

Those words are pretty strong and unmistakable don’t you think?

The way God sees it, is that we were created to love, we are here to love and to be loved. Nothing else matters much. So in…2 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13 God explains what love is

Love is patient; love is kind.

Love isn’t envious, doesn’t boast, brag, or strut about.

There’s no arrogance in love;
it’s never rude, crude, or indecent-it’s not self-absorbed.

Love isn’t easily upset.

Love doesn’t tally wrongs

or celebrate injustice; but truth-yes, truth-is love’s delight!
Love puts up with anything and everything that comes along; it trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.

Love will never become obsolete…faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

But even those words have grown tired and overly familiar, haven’t they?

While I was reading a book by  Francis Chan: Crazy love last year I was challenged to do a little exercise with these verses, one that was profoundly convicting.

Take the phrase Love is patient and substitute your name for the word love. (So for me, “Dami is patient…”) Do it for every phrase in the passage.

By the end, don’t you feel like a liar? If I am meant to represent what love is, then I often fail to love people well.

See the word of God is to teach, to rebuke and to correct us. So as a quick reminder of what we ought to be doing I write this post at a time like this.

On that note, I will leave you with this commentary by VOICE translation

Paul boils it all down for the believers in Corinth (you and I). Religious people often spend their time practicing rituals, projecting dogma, and going through routines that might look like Christianity on the outside but that lack the essential ingredient that brings all of it together—love!

It is a loving God who birthed creation and now pursues a broken people in the most spectacular way. That same love must guide you and I, so faith doesn’t appear to be meaningless noise.

So ask yourself this: really how deep is my love?

Happy Valentine’s Day beautiful people.

Love ,

Dami xo
