what about Mercy?

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will ALWAYS harvest what you plant.

– Galatians 6:7 NLT

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

– Galatians 6:7 NIV

Guys, can I be real with you all?

This is actually a scary verse for me!

As I read Galatians six verse seven, fear rushed down my spine, I read further on to verse eight which says…Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

I began to tremble, what chance have I got God?

…what if I ask for forgiveness?

Yes, Our God is MERCIFUL and FORGIVING BUT He is also a God of JUSTICE.

He is a JUST God! Psalm 25:8

Let me give you an example of a great man of God in the Bible who experienced God’s Justice, FULLY.

Yes, the man after God’s own VERY heart! I seriously love this man and so does God.

Psalm 119:120: “I tremble in fear of You God

Do you want to know why David uttered those words?

Read on friends…

Do you know the story of David, Bathsheba and Uriah? CLICK HERE to read.

To Summarise that chapter, David slept with Uriah’s wife-Bathsheba but not only did he committed adultery but also murdered this innocent man (Uriah). God was annoyed! He could not believe David can do such things after He gave him Saul’s house, wives, kingdoms of Israel and Judah. After He anointed him as a King!

David killed a man fighting for God’s glory – and even worse, Uriah died from the sword of their enemies – the ammonites.

In Chapter twelve: God of Justice told David he is not so smart. He can’t get away with what he has done, he has to reap what he had sown. So God sent Nathan the prophet to him revealing his deed in form of a story. Read from verse one, please try to stop at four: CLICK HERE  there is something I want to show you in verse five.

This is where it gets interesting…

After Nathan finished telling David the story, He replied with this statement in verse five…“As surely as the Lord lives,” he vowed, “any man who would do such a thing deserves to die!”

Haha! David was judging himself and he did not even know it. What a pity! LOL!

All jokes apart, I’m amazed how he did not think the story was about himself before he uttered that statement! but I also believe God wanted him to judge himself  in his humanness how unfair his actions was- David despised God by taking Uriah’s wife to be his own and killing Uriah.

Guys, Read on from verse seven to twelve, see how our God of justice moves, boy!

If you haven’t read it yet, here is what verse eleven to twelve said...Because of what you have done, I will cause your own household to rebel against you. I will give your wives to another man before your own very eyes, and he will go to bed with them in the public view. You did it secretly, but I will make this happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel.”

*Deep sigh*

David realised there is no hiding  from this. “Oh boy, God is not happy, seriously I have messed up big time!”

So, he confessed his guilt “I have sinned against the Lord” but see God being so merciful in spite of what David did,  He forgave David. He told him he won’t die for this sin.

Understand that DEATH is the reward of SIN (just as David stated earlier on)

Nevertheless, because you have shown utter contempt for the Lord  by doing this, your child will die”

2 Samuel 12:14

Do you see why I am trembling now?!

Not yet?…Ok read on

God did not only stop at killing David’s son with a deadly illness but he fulfilled ALL the Words He spoke to David’s life.

In Chapter 13, see how David’s son Ammon slept with his OWN sister Tamar! (INCEST) and how David’s son Absalom killed his brother Ammon for sleeping with Tamar.

The rebellion God said in Chapter 12: 11 starts…

Absalom rebelled against his father David. In fact, David had to run out of Jerusalem – (his own palace) because his own son, his own blood wanted to kill him – A whole king running with bare foot! Please do Read chapter 15 to gain full understanding.

“Sorry I keep referring you to read these chapters, its only  because I want you to fully understand this story about David.”

This is where it gets personal, do you remember those words God said to David? This one in particular “I will give your wives to another man before your own very eyes, and he will go to bed with them in the public view. You did it secretly, but I will make this happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel.”

Check out Chapter 16: 20-23…

In verse 22, the scripture said”So they set up a tent on the palace roof where everyone could see it, and Absalom went in and had sex with his father’s concubines.”

WOW, wow, wow, wow.

As I write this, tears fills my eyes…  if God can do this to a man He “claims” He loves, a man after His heart, what chance have I got?

The law of harvest comes to mind, it is inevitable, you can only get what you’ve poured out!

So I guess it all comes down to our CHOICES.

Life is full with choices, choices that can affect our life. Like David, his choices affected him.

God is a Just God, He is Fair in Justice.

I thank God for His mercy over my life,  “…Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord…” Romans 7:24

Jesus Christ is the mercy! But do NOT be deceived if you continue in your sin, you will harvest Death- HELL!

I’m not try to spook you out, it is the honest truth guys.

You might think, oh Dami, the case of David is in the old testament but Remember God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word never fails.

The Word of the Lord endures forever, 1 Peter 1:25.

I like what Paul said in this Galatians 6:8 “Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

Oh and that verse is in the New Testament!

Let me emphasis on this again, You cannot continue with your sin and expect not to harvest death!

Cry out to God like David did, and He will save you from eternal death today.

David chose to Ask God for Mercy, you have that choice too.

Speak to Him

With all said, I just want to conclude with this statement:

God’s justice is ALWAYS tempered by His MERCY.

God bless you all.

Love, Dami E

and LOVE is the greatest…

“Three things will last forever; Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is LOVE.

1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT

In First corinthians chapter thirteen verse thirteen, Apostle paul said these words to the Christians in Corinth who were actually struggling with their environment, with what their society were doing. They were surrouded by this overwhelming hatred, disunity, no love and every conceivable sin on earth.

Does this sound familar to you?

Everywhere I look today I see no compassion, no love, no passion for the things that breaks my God’s heart. Especially we so called Christians, we’ve forgotten what LOVE really is, what True LOVE looks like. We have forgotten what we were meant to be doing as Christian, and that is  To Love God, and Love People

In those days of Apostle Paul, Love had become a mixed-up term with little meaning for the Corinths’. As it is now today, we are still confused about Love too.

Can I just say this, Today’s Love we often profess is actually Lust!

But wait a minute, I am not condemning no one, but what I am saying is why don’t we use this so call “Valentine’s month” to challenge ourselves as Christians to put Extra effort in Loving God and people. Valentine’s day is a day of showing affection to someone you Love.  As Christians we can use this for God’s purpose.

I just want to encourage you to join me as I challenge myself personally as someone who is seeking to please my God relentlessly everyday of my life. I know my heart is far from being perfect and that’s why I want to Love Him more than I’ve ever done, I want to show His Love to people around me, my community, my environment, my dying generation, I want to show God’s Love to the unlovable ones – those difficult people in my life.

Let us rise up in LOVE

Let us go and change the world around us today!

Join me as I challenge myself this month and beyond… To Love God more, to show our generation that we are the light, to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help the helpless, Pray for our generation and tell our friends about Jesus Christ- yes! that too is showing Love. Go out of your way to help people.

Thinking about how to start with this challenge?

Well, as for me, I am going back to the basics- I will be looking at What Love is from what the scriptures says and Why God is love…How to Love God and how to show genuine Love to people.

With the knowledge and help of the Holy Spirit, you will be free to Love completely as you learn to understand how God loves.

I will be using these particular daily readings on YouVersion.

What is Love

Remember in John chapter three verse sixteen “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life”

See, God had to show His Love by giving us Jesus- He gave His one and only Son

I Need To Know If You Will Love Me Again. . .

Happy New Year everyone!!

I have to say, I am really sorry for not posting for the past few months. Please accept my sincere apologies, I have been very busy but nevertheless it’s not an excuse.

Thank God for a New Year, it encourages a new start so I promise to post more often this year by God’s grace.

Anyway…I pray you are all well and experiencing the blessings of 2014. I am experiencing it already too and it’s only the 2nd day!

Last year, 2013 taught me so much. God dealt with every part of my life. He promised me it was a year of completion and I can honestly say He was indeed a God of Completion but the Key thing I want you all to remember is when God says a Word, He will surely make it happen no matter how hard it might be or how little your faith might be. He is ready to move mountains because of you. You just need to Believe and have Faith that God is able to do ALL things.

You know what, God has a way of blowing minds out of this world and I can testify to that in 2013, so don’t let go of His Word this year 2014.

I pray this year, 2014 you will experience the Overflowing blessings of God and I pray you will seek and pursue the presence of God daily.

Now let’s talk about what I intended to tell you today. It has been on my mind to encourage someone who may have backslid-ed  for whatsoever reason in 2013 and need to know if God can still love them in this new year.

As you all know this New Year brings a lot of people to God as they are looking for a fresh start. One of the conversations between us and God goes like this “Oh God I need to know if You still love me for I am a sinner. I want a new start this 2014″.

New Year Resolutions, so cliche right?

Well, the good news is this, Yes God still loves you, He never stopped loving you even when you did not listen to His gentle still voice talking to you, when you decided to depend on your own understanding, when you did not let go of that relationship He told you to, when you wronged your neighbour, when you watched that porn, when you lied, when you stole, when you gossip, when you didn’t pray etc. and most of all when you did not love God.

1 John 4:9-10 states “God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love-not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as a sacrifice to take away our sins”

I absolutely love this bible verse,  it is the TRUTH!

God knew you would be here today, At this moment, this minute, this second, reading this while the thought going through your head is “Can this be true?”.

He knows you seriously want to know if He can take you back. He knew you will be here because you are like Thomas; doubting- you want Him to show you signs before you truly believe you are forgiven. This is why you are here today reading this, Yes He just gave you the sign you want. All you need now is to BELIEVE.

Believe He is able to forgive you of all your sins in 2013.

Go on and read Micah 7:18-20, can you see that nothing can separate you from God’s love. His unfailing love, mercy and passion for you are unrelenting. The depth of His love for you is never ending. It’s an Unstoppable love. Your sins have been trampled under His feet. Yes, He can’t stay angry at you because He loves you so much; this is why you are seeking Him. Don’t you know He put the heaviness and hunger in your heart? He wants you too.

I want you to say this prayer with me. “Today, O God, I believe You still love me in spite of my sins. Forgive me, I want a fresh start with You, pray for me like You prayed for Peter. I seek Your presence in my life, come in and show me Your Unfailing Love” Amen.

I want you to start living, be free and enjoy the immense love of God, knowing that no mind games of the enemy, the devil can stop the Love God has for you.

“Jesus loves you, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” And that is the greatest Truth.

God’s love is an Everlasting love.

Don’t you know this year is different. It is like no other past years.

For further reading: Look at John 15:9, Ephesians 2:4-5, Ephesians 2:8 &10, 1 Chronicles 16:34.

The Word of God for 2014: To pursue His Presence Daily.

The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,

delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. Psalm 27:4 NLT

I will dwell in the presence of the Lord daily. Psalm 23:6b

Overflow with God’s blessings this year.

I love you,

Dami Elegbede

It All Starts With A Seed

By devoting the time and effort it takes to develop what God has placed in you, you will experience the joy of fulfillment.

God work sometimes in patterns.

He starts with a seed, which He plants in us in form of a thought, a dream, a desire.

In order for that seed to grow and develop, we must nourish and nurture it, being careful to watch over it and protect it because the devil is a master of stealing seeds.

Remember the devil comes only to steal, to kill and to destroy John 10:10a.

Love you all,

Dami Elegbede
