Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me.”And he broke down and wept.

Mark 14:72 NLT

As you read this week, put yourself in Peter’s sandals for a minute, When you read the build up verses before this last verse in Mark 14, can you see a bit of  Peter in you?

…probably a lot huh?

Have you also blown it lately? Personally, I can see a lot of myself in Peter too, so you are not alone on this one!

Go to Mark 14:31 real quick, Peter promised Jesus never to deny Him and vowed to die with Him!

Let’s pause right there…Honestly what was Peter thinking? Declaring those powerful words, making empty promises? Seriously what was he thinking though? Sigh!

Are you like Peter, passionately telling God you don’t want to go back to that sin?

Do you find yourself collapsed in tears after you find yourself going back into that same sin?

Yes? Then you’re in the right place.

See, I believe Peter seriously did not want to deny Jesus Christ, but when he got overwhelmed by the situation around him, he got really nervous and swore “I have never laid eyes on this man you’re talking about”.

Just like Peter, we too can get overwhelmed by our seasons, circumstances and situations out of our control.

Let your meditation on Peter’s failure lead you to consider your own heart and life.

Where have you blown it lately?

Have you also went back on your promises to God because you got so overwhelmed with all your problems and resulted back to what you’ve always known to bring you false or temporal pleasure?

Went back to the sin you passionately told God to deliver you from? Went back to not trusting God to come through for you?

Talk to Jesus about this, bravely let yourself feel the depth of what you’ve done.

This week, speak a prayer of humility. Cry out like Peter did when he remembered what Jesus had told him earlier.

Jesus is interceding for you as he did for Peter!

∞ What is Jesus saying in response to your heart cry? Be open to how He may be reacting different to you or to your failure than you expected. Write down what Jesus’ response is and how you feel about it. Remember, Yesterday is gone! Move forward with Jesus…talk to Him. His LOVE and GRACE is stronger than all your faults and failures.

I pray this Word – this Seed falls on the good soil and May The Lord answer your heart cry today,  Amen!
