Remember me with favour, my God.
Nehemiah 13:31b NIV
Favour is the loving-kindness of God, it is His help and blessings. Favour is like Honey. Favour is God working with you to help you and give you victory in a supernatural way. Grace is the New Testament word for favour. It means unmerited favour or goodness. Do you want the favour of God in your life?
In Nehemiah Chapter 13 verse 31, we read that this prophet asked God to remember all he had done and favour him.
So, then how can you obtain God’s favour on your life?
The Word of God – In John 15:7, John writes, “if you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
“My son, do not forget My teaching, but keep My commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:1- 4
To obtain God’s favour on your life you need to know what God says about it. Knowing and obeying the word means memorizing and meditating on it daily which will prompt you to pray and practice what you are reading. It will tell what is available for you and teach you how to ask for it.
“Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.” Proverbs 8:34 – 35
Get Wisdom – Wisdom is a key to favour. As Solomon makes clear in the Book of Proverbs.
“For those who find me find life and receive favour from the Lord.”
How does one become wise? Through the word of God.
“So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. “But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!”
“and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.”
I don’t know about you but I want to be on the Lord’s side. That’s the winning side. When you are on the Lord’s side you get the favour of God on your life. Supernatural help so that you can accomplish His purpose. Wisdom is the Key!
Have Faith – See God is no respecter of persons. That means He doesn’t have favourites. His blessings are available to all. But there is a way to receive. We receive by faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. He that doubts is like the wave tossed to and fro, let not that man think he will receive anything from the Lord. He loves all equally, He has no favourites but He gives favour to anyone who qualifies for it.
So what qualifies us for favour? Obedience to His Words.
Remember how God favoured Mary to be the Mother of Jesus Christ?
Luke 1:28 “And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
God’s favour will bring you a promotion and cause you to increase daily.
“And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.”
God’s favour can make an extraordinary difference in your life, but it will not happen automatically; it has to be “turned on” in much the same way as you turn on the lights in your house. The power of electricity is always there, but the lights won’t come on until you turn on the switch. As a believer, you need to release the power of favour that God has already made available.
Renew your passion for God and put Him first in everything and watch what happens.
