Great Peace

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

How often I’ve found that my lack of peace is directly related to my lack of Bible reading.

If you lack peace, If you are afraid….could it be that you are neglecting to read your Bible or diminishing its importance?

David testified,

“For those who love what you reveal, everything fits – no stumbling around in the dark for them. Great is their peace.”

– Psalm 119:65

God has given you and I promises that brings peace in the midst of our panic, but we must tune our hearts to listen to His voice daily.

Prophet Isaiah also testified,

“People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, Steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit.”

– Isaiah 26:3

I want to encourage you this week to keep searching the scriptures to hear God’s voice in every situation or season in your life.

He is always eager to speak to us.

John 16:33 – Jesus said, “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world, you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”

Change Requires New Thinking

“Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God — truly righteous and holy.”

Ephesians 4:21-24 NLT

Change in your life requires new thinking. The battle to change the defects in your life is always a mental battle. It starts in the mind, and it’s won or lost there.

Ephesians 4:23 says, “Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes” (NLT).

You’re not going to change until your thoughts and attitude change. This is why a daily quiet time is important. The time you spend intentionally studying God’s Word and in prayer is the spiritual renewal in your mind. If you’re not doing that, you’re not going to have the power to change.

Do you know what the theological term for “change of mind” is? It is the word “repentance”.

To repent literally means to change your mind.

The word “repent” is actually a Greek word — metanoia.

Metanoia means to change your mind — to turn from death to life, sin to forgiveness, guilt to peace of mind, Hell to Heaven, my way to God’s way. The most positive change in your life will be when you repent of your sin and turn from regret to peace of mind and forgiveness.

You have to learn to think in new ways about your defects. Defects are often strengths being misused. That’s a new way of thinking. You probably never thought of that, but that’s repentance! That’s a change of mind.

You have to change the way you think.

Philippians 2:5 says, “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

God wants you to learn to think like Jesus. How do you do that? Again, it’s a choice. You’ve got to make a choice and say, “Lord, how would Jesus think about this?” The more you fill your mind with the Word of God, the easier that’s going to be.

Your defects are often the strengths God gave you being misused. Ask God to touch your mind today so you can think rightly of how God has made you.

Tried and Tested

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT

We must never allow ourselves to be agitated and disturbed whatever the circumstances. To do so implies a lack of faith and trust and confidence in our blessed Lord.

God gives the gift of faith and then the faith is tried.

Faith that is tried and tested but remains standing is genuine; This proves to God that we do not only love Him for what He gives us.

He is who we are after!

When you find yourself in this season avoid complaining instead thank the Lord, Thank Him for providing and repairing your faith whenever it is necessary. Thank the Lord you are victorious.

Rejoice and leap for joy for your reward is great in Heaven

 23 – 31st

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope
When you are feeling worthless or even begin to hate yourself, remember that God’s Spirit is ready and willing to work within you.

Jeremiah 29: 11 TLB

Self – worth is how much you value yourself, and it’s tied to self-esteem because self-esteem is what we feel about ourselves.

If you’re not feeling that you have any self-worth, then, simply improving self-esteem isn’t enough because you won’t believe it inside.

You need to improve both to get real results, and one way to do that is through the Word of God.

I believe the best therapist is God.

Lift yourself up with this:
Psalm 139:13-18 TLB

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb.
Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it.
You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion!
You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in Your book!
How precious it is, Lord, to realize that You are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day Your thoughts turn toward me. And when I waken in the morning, You are still thinking of me!

God will never leave you! He will not forsake you. Keep running after Him.
He has so much respect for you if only you’ll believe it.

You are important to Him!

You were worth dying for!

See the glory of God, not self.
