Develop Your Skills

The man answered, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Luke 10:27 NLT

If you take time to sit at Jesus’ feet and be filled by God’s Spirit as you study the written Word, if you focus on overcoming internal obstacles to doing God’s work, you will never lack for ministry.
God’s fullness in you will naturally overflow into the lives of others.

Evangelist Corrie ten Boom comes to mind when I think of someone who increased their ministry potential when she overcame her shyness.

Evangelist Corrie ten boom had a problem with shyness.

Determined to overcome it, she enrolled in a Dale Carnegie course so she could learn to talk to people. If she could talk to people, then she could witness to them about Jesus Christ. Developing herself in this way led to greater ministry.

My point is this;

Ministry and service to others are stimulated when we take the time to develop our skills and overcome our weaknesses.

After all, how much can a teacher teach, a counsellor counsel, an administrator administrate? Only as far as each has grown!

You have more to give your neighbour if you regularly place yourself before God and let Him grow you, strengthen you, transform you!

God, Is There Something I Should Know?

He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.
Matthew 14:23

During a concert, singer-songwriter David Wilcox responded to a question from the audience about how he composes songs. He said there are three aspects to his process: a quiet room, an empty page, and the question, “Is there something I should know?”.

It struck me as a wonderful approach for followers of Jesus as we seek the Lord’s plan for our lives each day.

Throughout Jesus’s public ministry, He took time to be alone in prayer. After feeding 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish, He sent His disciples to cross the Sea of Galilee by boat while He dismissed the crowd (Matt. 14:22). “After [Jesus] had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone” (verse 23).

If the Lord Jesus saw the need to be alone with His Father, how much more do we need a daily time of solitude to pour out our hearts to God, ponder His Word, and prepare to follow His directions. A quiet room-anywhere we can focus on the Lord without distractions. An empty page-a receptive mind, a blank sheet of paper, a willingness to listen. Is there something I should know?

“Lord, speak to me by Your Spirit, Your written Word, and the assurance of Your direction.”

From that quiet hillside, Jesus descended into a violent storm, knowing exactly what His Father wanted Him to do (verses. 24-27).

So, if you are at a crossroad, needing God for direction in your current season and you need clarity. Go to God like Jesus did! Spend some quiet time in prayer, away from all the noise. Pour your heart to Him and ask Him for directions. Ask Him this question “Is there something I should know Father?”

Taking time to be with God is the best place to find strength.

Nothing Like Your Love

“God is love. Anyone who lives
faithfully in love also lives
faithfully in God, and God lives in him.
This love is fulfilled with us, so that on the day of judgment we have confidence based on our identification with Jesus in this world.
Love will never invoke fear. Perfect love expels fear, particularly the fear of punishment. The one who fears punishment has not been completed through love.”

1 John 4:16b – 18 VOICE

Hillsong United – Nothing Like Your Love
“Your Love, brighter than the sun, more beautiful than words could ever say. This endless light, shinning over all. It leads me to Your glory everlasting.”

There is NOTHING like God’s Love.

The Bible said God is Love which means Love is who God is – plain and simple. Nothing else can explain it better than that. It simply means God is Love just as it says.

When He speaks you see Love, when He walks you see Love, everything about God is Love. He breathes Love, this is what He is made of.

There is NOTHING -No one like Love.

Unconditional Love!

The best dictionary or scholars can’t explain it. I can’t explain it either.

Our understanding of this truth is very limited to this world and yet He reveals His Love in ways we can understand, well in little ways we can. Which blows my mind!

Love is kind, Love is forgiving, Love is perfect.

God will never invoke fear. This is not part of Love’s character.

Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not

Develop The Habit

For you shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river.

Jeremiah 17:8

Only through a routine, regular exposure to God’s Word can you and I draw out the nutrition needed to grow hearts of faith. I know first-hand how hard it is to develop the habit of drawing near to God and how easy it is to skip and miss. For some reason I tend to think I’ll spend time with God later, I’ll get around to it in a little while, or I’ll miss just this one day-but catch up with God tomorrow.
I’ve learned, however, that my good intentions don’t go very far.

It’s easy for me to start the day planning to have a devotional time a little later..after I’ve checked my Whats app, Instagram or Twitter. Maybe after I’ve done a few things around the house, made some phone calls, tidied up the kitchen. Suddenly I’m off and running to get to work and start my day.

Somehow I never get the time for the most important relationship in my life – my relationship with God! That’s why I have to be firm with myself and aim for habitual, scheduled time with God whether I feel like it or not, whether it seems like the best use of my time or not. I must draw near to God.

Here’s one question to think about: If someone asked you to describe the quiet time you had this morning, what would you say?

“Habit is a cable; we weave a thread each day, and at last we cannot break it.”Horace Mann

I hope you have been blessed!

I pray this Word – this Seed falls on the good soil and May The Lord answer your heart cry today, Amen!
